intrusive thoughts

Intrusive thoughts are defined as "unwanted, involuntary, and often disturbing thoughts, images, or impulses that can be upsetting or distressing. They can be fleeting or more consistent and can range in intensity from mild to unbearable. Intrusive thoughts can be violent, sexual, or disturbing in nature." Intrusive thoughts can really mess with a person's head if they don't learn how to handle them.

To look at things from a spiritual perspective, intrusive thoughts feel like a demonic parasite trying to gain control of you. Intrusive thoughts go against your morals as a human, so no, you are not an immoral human, these thoughts are not yours. It is best to understand that these thoughts do not define who you are as a person.

As someone who has struggled with very graphic and violent intrusive thoughts, I will tell you that the best way to defeat this mind parasite is to absolutely ignore these thoughts. No matter how pure and spiritual you may be, intrusive and negative thoughts will happen, and if you are bothered by such thoughts just know you have all the power you need to not allow these thoughts to upset you. It is up to you to take control of your mind.

An exercise you can do to curve these thoughts is to breathe mindfully. Being mindful of every breath you take will clear your head of these negative thoughts. If you find yourself distraught by such thoughts, you must do everything you can to shift your emotions to a more positive space, and you must take as many deep breaths as you can. Feel what it feels like to be happy and feel what it feels like to breathe.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper.
